Prof. YAN's Lecture on "Audio Description Training and Assessment: Perceptions and Approaches" at University of Macau

Prof. YAN Xiu, Jackie, president of Hong Kong Audio Description Studies Association (HKADSA), visited the University of Macau on 19 March 2024 to deliver a lecture on "Audio Description Training and Assessment: Perceptions and Approaches" aiming at promoting academic collaboration, exchanging ideas, and shedding light on the training and assessment methods used in audio description. Prof. YAN shared her expertise and insights with the faculty members and students thanks to the effort of the facilitator, Prof. LI Defeng, the Associate Dean of FAH (Faculty of Arts and Humanities) and Director of Centre for Studies of Translation, Interpreting and Cognition (CSTIC) at the University of Macau.

Prof. YAN is a renowned scholar in the field of audio description, with extensive experience in research, teaching, and practical applications. Her work has contributed significantly to the advancement of audio description techniques and accessibility for the people who are visually impaired.

Her lecture, titled "Audio Description Training and Assessment: Perceptions and Approaches", explored the current landscape of audio description practices and the methodologies employed in training and assessing audio describers, followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience encouraging further discussions and offering additional insights into audio description training and assessment.

Prof. YAN's visit to the University of Macau and her lecture proved to be highly insightful and beneficial to the university community. Her expertise and comprehensive understanding of audio description techniques and practices provided valuable insights into training and assessing audio describers. The visit served as a catalyst for academic collaboration and inspired students and researchers to further explore the field of audio description.
